The Long Way West
In 2023, I set out on a 30-day journey across the United States, starting in Washington D.C. and ending in San Francisco. With a loosely mapped route and a curiosity to see the country beyond headlines and hearsay, I followed the roads that connected the in-between — towns, backroads, open plains, and whatever lay just out of sight.
What I found was a place far more complex and compelling than I’d expected. Vast, varied, and filled with warmth, America revealed itself slowly — through quiet diners, fading signs, endless landscapes, and conversations that lasted only a few minutes but lingered longer. This series is a record of those moments: people, places, and the culture that stretches along the roads in between.
